Ukrainian Integration Support
Helping young people feel welcome, supported, and connected.
The Ukraine Integration Support Project was organised to support young people aged 10–24 who have got Temporary Protection in Ireland because of war in Ukraine. We offer a safe and friendly space where you can meet others, take part in fun activities, and get support as you settle into life in County Galway & Galway City.
Whether you’re looking for someone to talk to, want to join a youth club, or need help finding services, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
What We Offer:
- Youth Club Access: We’ll help you join local youth clubs and take part in sports, social events, and creative activities.
- One-to-One Support: Talk privately with a youth worker about anything you’re going through—school, friendships, mental health, or settling in.
- Group Activities: Join small or large group sessions designed to help you connect with others and feel part of the community.
- Advocacy & Guidance: We’ll help you access services, understand your rights, and speak up for what you need.
- Outreach & Events: We run trips, workshops, and community events to help you explore new places and make new friends. We work closely with families, schools, and local organisations to make sure Ukrainian young people feel safe, included, and supported.
Activities & Workshops:
- Soccer: Ukrainian young people from Galway City and County Galway have been involved in fun and engaging soccer trainings and have the opportunity to earn medals in local tournaments.
- Volleyball: Ukrainian young people from different localities in Galway City and County have been joining our volleyball group in Renmore Community Centre and feel part of a supportive community.
- Arts and Crafts: We use different materials and types of arts, for example clay modelling, drawing, knitting, cyanotype photo printing and painting as a way for the young people to express themselves.
- Music: Ukrainian young people from Ballinasloe and Galway City have been involved with Music Generation group sessions and play different music instruments and show their talents in several multicultural events.
- Cookery: Across all our youth centres, in Galway City and County, there are many young people who are learning to cook and are exchanging recipes from cuisines of different cultures.
- DIY: Young people in Ballinasloe are developing essential DIY skills and practical knowledge for home improvement. They are learning to use different tools (hand tools and power tools) and practical DIY jobs in homes (putting up shelving, hanging pictures etc). They are also working on design and construction of projects (planters, benches, picnic tables etc) using reclaimed wood.
- Stop Motion Animation: Ukrainian young people living in South Connemara have been enrolled in creative stop motion animation camps.
- Intercultural events: Ukrainian young people registered in our youth centres have taken part in the Easter youth event in Ballinasloe, in the celebrations of Independence Day of Ukraine in Clifden and Galway City, and in multicultural festivals in Ballinasloe and Galway City.
