Youth Counselling Service
Overview
Established in 2012 our Youth Counselling Service is a free and confidential service operating across Galway city and county and is available in-person and online and through both English and Irish. Fully qualified and accredited adolescent therapists offer support, guidance and information in 7 locations in a friendly and safe environment and will work with young people aged 12-21 years to help them through difficulties they may be experiencing.

Where are counselling sessions available?
Counselling is available at multiple locations across Galway County, including: Galway City, Tuam, Ballinasloe and Loughrea
What happens if I miss an appointment?
Due to the length of our waiting list, it is very important that you give us at least 48 hours notice if you cannot make an appointment. If two appointments are missed without proper notice, your remaining appointments will be offered to the next person on the waiting list, and you will be placed back on the waiting list.
Can I choose my counsellor?
Yes, you can choose your counsellor, but our counsellors work in different areas. If you specifically want a certain counsellor, you would need to attend sessions in the area where they work.
How long are counselling sessions?
Sessions are typically 50–60 minutes, depending on the needs of the young person.
Do I need my parents’ consent?
Yes, if you are under 18, a parental/guardian consent form is required.
Is the service free?
Yes, all counselling sessions are completely free.
Who can use the service?
Young people aged 12–21 years in Galway City and County.
